Funding and Scholarships
Unlike undergraduate courses postgraduate courses are not supported by LEA grants. All students have to pay for postgraduate courses either from their own resources or by obtaining scholarships or funding from other sources.
Home/EU Students
- Institute of Engineering and Technology Scholarships. Several scholarships are offered by the Institution each year for full-time and part-time students who are members of the IET. You can contact the Institution for application forms by email at awards@theiet.org
Applications for many of the scholarships have to be in by 20th April but some are available until June. - The Daphne Jackson Memorial Trust. This is for UK students wanting to return to work after a period away from the workplace. More information on request to the department.
- The Grundy Educational Trust offers funding to full time or part time UK postgraduate students who are unable to secure funding from Research Councils etc. The awards are in the region of £1,500 - £3,000 annually. If interested, please contact us for an application form as applications need to be in by 1st May 2010.
- Career Development Loans provide individuals with financial help. They will enable you to borrow up to 80% of course fees. Contact your bank for details of these or other study loans.
Overseas Students
Unfortunately, we have very little funding for overseas students.
- One DFID Shared Scholarship Scheme (formerly ODASSS) for students from developing commonwealth countries (forms available on request from March 2010). This scholarship pays all fees and maintenance. It is extremely competitive and very oversubscribed. Applications need to be made by May 2010.
- Most overseas students are best advised to contact the British Council in their own country for methods of financial assistance.
