The image is from the UK-DMC satellite, showing the potential use of the wide swath instrument to capture a large part of the UK in a single data acquisition, providing in many cases a complete cloud free image of the UK without the problems of geometric stitching of data from different time periods with the additional problems of viewing the scene under different radiometric and ground conditions.
