Nanoelectronics Centre

The Nanoelectronics Centre (NEC) at the Advanced Technology Institute (ATI) of the University of Surrey is an interdisciplinary research activity. Consisting of four sectors of nanotechnology, NEC is considered to be one of the leading laboratories in carbon based electronics worldwide. The activity was identified and awarded an EPSRC Portfolio Partnership award in 2003 for £6.68M. The Surrey activities were also part of the National Carbon Based Electronics (CBE) research and made a number of key contributions to this programme from 2002-2005. The centre has a state-of-the-art microscopy laboratory, a class 1000 and 100 cleanrooms, and a number of nanomaterial growth and design laboratories. The centre also posseses a number of laser facilities, which include high power excimer, Ar ion and Nd:YAG lasers in addition to the opto-electronic characterisation suites.
