Notes
Things become a little confused after this season, but Peri can probably
be considered to have left as a regular companion at the end of this season.
Episode Details
The Doctor and Peri answer a distress call which brings them to the Earth
of 1986, shortly prior to the Doctor destroying Mondas, the original home of
the Cybermen. The Cybermen have stolen a time machine and are intent on
stopping the destruction of Mondas. The Doctor is surprised to find that
the mercenary Lytton is on Earth and apparently in league with the Cybermen.
The Doctor and Peri visit the mining planet of Varos, in order to pick up
some Zyton-7, a rare compound needed by the TARDIS.
The inhabitants of Varos enjoy watching criminals being publically tortured
and executed, and punish unpopular decisions by direct pain control of the
Governor!
The Doctor discovers that Sil, a small and obnoxious reptile from Galatron
who is supposed to be negotiating a trading arrangement with the Governor,
is in fact plotting to take over Varos to gain total control of the Zyton-7
supply!
The Doctor visits the home of Robert Stephenson at the start of the
industrial revolution, and discovers that he has called together a
meeting of all the great minds of his time.
The Doctor is alarmed to discover that the Master, and an evil female
Time Lord known as the Rani are present and behind a series of
vicious luddite attacks.
But what is their real motive in being on Earth at this period in
it's history?
The Doctor and Jamie are sent by the Time Lords to visit a scientific
Think Tank in deep space they helped establish to protest about the
dangerous time travel experiments being carried out there.
It turns out to be a trap and the Doctor is caught.
Later the (other) Doctor and Peri arrive to investigate the disappearance
of the Doctor and Jamie, and are re-united with Jamie.
Their investigations lead them to Earth where the Sontarans are backing
a megalomanic scientist's
dangerous experiments into time travel and genetic engineering.
The Doctor and Peri are startled to a see the image of a girl fly through
the TARDIS console room.
They discover a time tunnel, and trace it back to the planet Karfel, where they
find that a cruel tyrant, the Borad, throws his opponents into the time tunnel.
The Doctor is forced by the Borad to retrieve the girl Vena, who fell into
the time tunnel with a vital amulet, and finds that the far end of the tunnel
is in 19th century Scotland!
Bringing back Herbert, a young man holidaying in Scotland who enters the
TARDIS accidentally, and Vena, the Doctor must return to Karfel to defeat the
Borad, who is revealed to be a weird mutant!
The Doctor and Peri arrive on Necros to attend the funeral of an old friend
of the Doctor who has recently died. However, Tranquil Repose is not all
it seems and an attempt is made on the Doctor's life. Soon
the Doctor comes face to face with the Great Healer, only to discover it
is none other than Davros, the creator of the Daleks, intent on rebuilding
the Dalek race decimated by the Movellans.
