DVD-R Compatibility Chart

Recordable DVD (aka DVD-R) is finally with us in the form of the Pioneer DVR-A03, the Sony PCVA-DRW1, and the Panasonic LF-D311SC writers for PCs. Needless to say not every player out there is backwards compatible with this new technology, so here we're putting together a list of what does and doesn't work. This list is a little different from the others you may have seen in that we're tracking the exact media type used as well in case certain brands/types of media work and others don't in any given machine. This actually does seem to affect the compatibility in a real way - red signifies failure, green signifies success; items in yellow signify "interesting" results.
