Welcome to the I-Lab Multimedia and DSP research group, part of the Centre for Communication Systems Research at the University of Surrey.

Our mission at the I-Lab is, "To research and develop innovative ways of using multimedia and communication technologies to improve the way we live, work and play."

We usually think of communication systems as being about separation. But actually they minimise the distance between individuals. If we can include more human senses in the communication, we reduce the effective distance further. The I-Lab's goal is to bring communications and media technologies together in order to improve our daily lives.

I-Lab offers a complete solution to applications and services for current and future fixed and mobile communication systems by incorporating user aspects into technological research and development. I-Lab's user-centric research and development approach is the key to future telecommunication applications and services.
